John who?

Posted by Willow on July 28, 2002, at 23:24:42

Just watched a new release, John Q. I admit I shed a tear. Reminds me of a book I read as a teenager about a young man with cancer, by the time he passed away the family was too broke financially to give him a proper burial. (Now I won't get into the spirtual need of a burial, each family and individual has their own values regarding this.) I recall crying uncontrollably and questioning my mother about the how and whys of the story, re the book. Now here is my question for fellow babblers: Do I let my children watch the movie? My youngest watches James Bond, my eldest the loves teen horror movies, and the middle child prefers Walt Disney full-length cartoons. (Quite a few moral issues in the movie! At what age can a child be exposed to them?)

For those who haven't seen the movie I enjoyed it despite a few tears I did laugh too. My humour may have been a bit off base. Up north here, affording health care isn't an issue but having the resources are. Specialists are rare and gps are in short supply partialy because of available resources for doctors to practise their trade and also pay may be an issue for some.

So do I let the children watch it?
