News articles which may be of interest ...

There's one of a man cutting off a body part. Near the end of the article he says something about it being a cobra. Another of a woman obssessed with finding an imaginary treasure.

There are other articles which may help you feel very sane.

Hi Willow,

Funny! I liked the one about Kofi Annan guest-starring on Sesame Street; he gives the muppets a lesson in 'conflict management.'

best,

Wendy

Barney's On!

Wendy

Once a mom always a mom! I found myself watching Barney reruns long after the children stopped.

There's one about a mouse stopping one of Japan's trains. Just hope it wasn't our resident mouse!?

In the archives there was an article about teenage girls having shizo type personalities on the internet. Interesting how the media still perceives schizophrenia with multiple personalities.

OH GOD! Barney! Don't remind me. My brain got permanently f___ed up on those videos. Wound up singing those songs all day cause I couldn't get them out of my head. My daughter somehow survived them and is a nomal child now, seemingly... who knows how that corney music has affected those synapses... Do kids still watch it? Or has the Purple Dinosaur Union, Local 504, found that the working conditions were intolerable? That suit!

Well, it would be just like you...
But I don't think I caught that one... (?) I suspect you're making this up... sounds too surreal...

Yeah, I read some doozies! You're right, mental illness is still perceived as people in straightjackets, etc. The sensationalism, only stuff like The Three Faces of Eve, or Sybil (I read both as a teenager) make it into most people's consciousness. Though there are some good memoirs out written by depressed people. I have:

Prozac Nation (of course)
The Beast
Sorrow's Web
The Liar's Club (a memoir about a Texan girl whose mother was, in my opinion, bipolar, written by Mary Karr, it's excellent)
both Kay Redfield Janeson's books

Anyway, nice to hear from you... I was on chat Friday night, hoped to see you there, but maybe sometime soon?

love,
Wendy

Oh no! Sons were too old when Barney appeared...he and all his buddy subscribed to the 'kill barney' club (sorry)

They were of the era of "masters of the Universe" (hey, I watched it the other day!) Skeltor and Heman, Teenage Ninga Turtles, Transformers and oh, dont forget, Rocky Horror Picture Show...

I have problems with Barney, Teletubies, hobbit and now, oh no! lord of the rings, sob.

I am, have been, are, probably will be, in terrible moods, agitated, irritated, confused....

going for another walk.

Could we blame it on the moon? Or is it chat withdrawal? Perhaps our chats are actually therapeutic? I was in a mixed state last night but after chatting (AKC Jane and Source dropped in) went to bed in a more mellow state. (Though I probably stayed up past my bedtime because today I'm right on edge. The car had to make an emergency pitstop which drained our finances and this is probably bumming me out too.)

The show "Alias" comes on television at 9pm here, 6 your time, so I'm going to club my little ones over the head and I'll definetely be on the chat at this time.

Hope to see you!

Call your doctor now! This is definately an emergency situation. If you explain the situation (and maybe sing a few of the songs) I am sure that he can get you in right away. Above all, do not give up hope. With all the new medications coming out I'm sure you can find the right one for your Barney addiction. Do you have rehab programs up your way?

By the way, I recommend that you stay away from all purple colored medications. They are just not safe for people with your history.

No it's in there! I went back to read more of the articles but I couldn't find them.

Or atleast for my generation. the essentials were he-man she-ra (i have the christmas special combined movie)GI Joes, Ninja Turtles, voltron, Gem, uhm pretty much any other show that you can think of that was a half hour long advertisement for a toy. i was on the tail end of that so for the first six months that barney was around, i was ok. then i went into denial before finally joining the anti-barney club. i still know the alternative lyrics better than i ever knew the actual lyrics.
