hi greg,

things aren't doing well on the war on alcohol front, but I am going for a complete physical today. And set up an appt to work with a therapist next week. The war goes on.

Julie,

I’m very glad to see you taking steps to sort things out. It seems to me that when the anxiety is in check, you do not have the same tendency to drink. That is also the case for me. And while getting anxiety under control is not easy, there are lots of things that help. Seeing your doc(s) is a good start. Any hobbies other than dressing funky and taking peoples money? I find that I need something to occupy the time when I would normally want to drink. And not only do you kill the time, but depending on your selection of hobby you can do things which make you feel better about yourself as well. Just a thought.
You asked before if I went to AA. No I don’t. The people I have made a commitment to are people such as yourself. Simple as that. I have another anxiety sufferer I correspond with who is pregnant and I jokingly promised that I would not drink since she can’t. Only it was not totally a joke for me.
Anyway, keep in touch and let me know how things go with the docs.

well had a complete checkup today, I had hands in every orfice of my body, so undignified....complete blood workup..Ekg, chest exray... blah blah blah.
and will go back in the next 3 weeks for more tests, i'm glad about this, it will give me some piece of mind. Especially the liver function test.

doc prescribed a hormone replacement therapy for me. Pdoc thinks maybe this depression/anxiety has been exacerbated by the onset of menopause.

I'm still giving the serzone a chance, I am on one of those step type introduction programs to the drug 50 mg 1st week, 100 mg 2nd week ...

Julie - I thought you worked in a casino, not in an orifice. . . . Sorry - i couldn't resist.
It feels good to take a positive step doesn't it? Something you have put off for a long time that you finally get around to doing.
I am having a bit of a rough time the last while. I'm not sure if I have tinkered too much with my meds and caused them not to work as well, or if it is time for a change. Today i left work at lunch. I felt dizzy and a bit disoriented - in fact I still do. I really don't have a clue why this has started. Lots of stress lately may have contributed.
Anyway - you take care.

Julie:

Sorry to jump in - just wanted you to know that the war goes on for me, too. :)

Hang in there. Keep trying to take care of yourself. That's what I'm doing.

- K.
