Temp hitting 30 again, off to the beach. Got a new swimsuit, couldn't find the other one. Guess effexor ain't a cure. Eldest says I must have gave it to charity.

Please note that this virus (CodeRed Worm) affects Microsoft Index Server 2.0 and the Windows 2000 Indexing service on computers running Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 that run IIS 4.0 and 5.0 web servers. All other operating systems are relatively safe from this virus.
from my place where we go online (server?)

However, as infected MS servers, under the influance of Code Red, go out an probe for other servers, this will create a DoS (denial of service). CR probes every IP, not just MS servers. This is its intent, to cause DoS.
Many devices allow web management, CR probes on port 80, any has wrecked havoc on these. Cisco DSL routers, 67X series were really hit.Far too many servers are not maintained at all. A fix for this came out days before CR hit. We would not be having round 2 (or even round 1) if people would mantain their servers.

A server interfaces you (and your machine) with the rest of the world.
It's just a high-powered, multi-tasking, multi-processing computer, no big whoop.
A server is a remote host and you are a client.
I run a server and allow only a few select people to access it. Why? Because it's my stuff, that's why.
By the way, this so-called CODE RED baloney is hyped crap. According to MS-NBC, nothing happened, and is in par with the Y2K scare (remember that one?).
Again, let us now praise the hysterical media. They must be on drugs. They should be spanked as well.

James here....Not true. I'm a network admin. Code Red has been causing problems throughout the world. We received a huge amount to traffic from it.
Servers offer services.

Local paper reported that it was over dramatized. Though one of my newsletters sent a message saying it was shut down temporarily because of the worm.
Gee what's a girl to think!
