I looked into this again, and the Kaiser stuff seems like a real problem. What clinched it was a plea on Mary Shomon's thyroid board for a Kaiser doctor in my area who would take endocrine symptoms seriously in the absence of clear cut lab results.
So, I found a program which looked very good-- $10 copay for mental health reasonable prescription benefit. Good access to specialists.
It was Blue Shield HMO +Access. They seem to cover all kinds of psychotropic medications except for Zoloft, which I'm on. It's all very strange. Some plans cover Celexa, and others don't. I also saw that Kaiser actively discourages its physicians from prescribing zoloft by suggesting an alternative SSRI, but I'm already on Zoloft, and I think that switching could be destabilizing.Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do? Aetna and United don't seem to offer individual policies.
Thanks,
Abby
