Gay men

Posted by gay cowboy on November 18, 2006, at 17:34:06

Are there any guys that want to be friends and lover? guys who are not just looking for the short term. guys that really care and not just telling you crap you want to hear. guys that will hang in with you in good times and bad. Too many gay men just want to hit,get and run. Are there any gay men that are not USERS?? Last, is there life after fourty for a gay man?

Dunno, I'm neither a man, nor gay, but my brother is both, has been in a relationship with his current boyfriend for like, 6 years? He's approaching 40 too....

Anyway your gripe sounds rather similar to the gripes of women re:men....I think men would probably like to be more promiscious than what society currently allows....although I have to say I'm not a man, so I don't know!

I guess its finding the right one thats the problem...

Not sure this is the place for such a thread. Perhaps a re-direct to social would be more appropriate.

If this isn't a shill or prank, my gosh yes. I hope so too. You will discover that there are a surprisingly large number of gay men on here and if they feel free to talk to you on the social board, you will find some help.

And yeah, the whole meth scene in the gay community is appalling. Not to mention X, which people think is just so benign. I'm not a war on drugs person, but I think that meth, X, and ketamine -- ketamine especially, are a scourge on the community. I can understand the reasons behind it but it pains me to see people using.

Weed, well, I don't really care -- you'll just get bloated on twinkies, its not something I think should be bothered with by law enforcement. Maybe an age limit and a little taxation, and you'll have less drug crime. Anyhow.

I wish you to find the soulmate who isn't a fairweather friend. That's what I hate -- there's too many fra-quaintances you can make, and I mean, okay its allright, but they're not there when you're depressed and down.

I'm susrprised this thread hasn't been redirected yet, but while it's here I'll say that while I currently am in touch with relatively few people AT ALL, of the fifteen or so gay men I'm in contact with offline, none are drug abusers and most are actively involved in their churches.

Which may be a place to consider meeting gay men? If you're a person of faith, I mean, and in a metropolitan area, is there a gay or gay-friendly church/temple you can try out? Good ol' Dr Ruth (rememer her?) always suggested church/temple to her heterosexual callers as a good place to meet nice people.

Another possibility is political organizations, not even necessarily gay ones but groups like Log Cabin Republicans or libertarians (on one arm) and Green Party or environmental groups (on another). Again, it helps to be in a major metropolitan area…

i think there are. i've several gay men friends and they are all fairly well-adjusted and happy.

back in the 70s and 80s, it was a lot different.

i definitely think there is life for you after 40.....good luck, pat
