Hi! Thanks all for your responses so far! :) Another question, do most guys wake up with a woody in the morning?

It's pretty common. I know I generally do.

Nah,it's actually one of the things they check when you're having erection problems "if you wake with wood, things are good." or so a Dr once told me. Meaning that that meant the problem usually wasn't physical in origin.

So long as they otherwise can get one, yes. Erectile dysfunction in a sexual context also prevents this reaction.

It's almost always the case if I wake erect that I also have a full bladder. It is impossible to pee through an erection. I appreciate the potential romantic opportunity presented by a guy appearing like he's ready to play, but the truth is (for me), I gotta pee. The "wake up with woodie and make love" scenario is truly a myth, at least in so far as it applies to me. Too bad, really. Sex to start the day is great.

Difficult, but not impossible......perhaps a "bank" shot off the exhaust fan.

Peace

It's not just the angle... it's which passages are open for business. You can urinate through an erection if it's somewhat soft but not when it's at its hardest. Or at least I can't. I imagine that's for good reason, too.

Perhaps my use of "impossible" was a little black and white. You never know what the other guy can do, eh? But it's supposed to be physiologically impossible. Because of the plumbing in common (the penis, and four inches of ureter), the erection clamps off the ureter at the level of the prostate. That forces the ejaculate out, rather than allowing it to go back up into the bladder (retrograde ejaculation). That's not so good for reproductive success, from an evolutionary standpoint.

I've heard of 'golden showers' and I have to say that no, that really doesn't have any appeal to me whatsoever.

I was thinking that the clamping thing...
Might have something to do minimising risk of infection too...

Perhaps... though my wife, who's more medically inclined than I am, says urine is comparatively free of potentially infectious organisms.

Not that I'd exactly consider it "clean" myself!

Early morning erctions can be knocked out by drugs and as drug use is lowered they come back. The quality of sleep has something to do with it, ie the sleep has to have some depth, dunno if REM or deep sleep is best for it. It's the pressure of the bladder against the prostate, isn't it?

It was a problem in boarding school. Everyone sleeps together, (you know in the same big dormitory). Everyone gets up to shower (publically) at the same time. Any less than wholly masculine (or whateveritis) boys with erections (in the shower!) would need to look out. Talk about waste.

Larry, yes this is true. As you well know....However, I belive a lot of my day and depression and anxiety would be at least 1/2 better with early morning / wake up loving would be ..to make the difference. :) Nothing like a good Dopamine and other "neuro-chemical on-slaught in the Am. It is better than most realize...sadly the truth is that not everyone gets this...more communication is needed.
Take care

No kidding! I almost never wake up with an erection and I've been drugged up to the eyeballs for years ;-)

Dunno. I've been medicated since early adolescence so I guess I might have been permanently damaged.

Age too. After a while, you know youre not going to get any action - so no need to rise to the occasion.

I think if I knew it was in the realm of possibility for me, I would wake up "in ancticipation". But I'm too old and too dysfunctional.

Interesting how the anticipation thing can make a difference, at any age. Some years ago I had a lover who was much older than me. He was in his mid-fifties at the time and I was in my early twenties, and I rather foolishly assumed he would be a bit less, er, shall we say… up for it than younger men. But the first time we were intimate there was no suppressing it. Talk about multiple male orgasms… I’m sure it had something to do with the new situation / new partner aspect of it.

As for morning wood: some of my partners never woke up with it, others always did. I think it depends on the man. There was no difference in libido or stamina between those who were hard in the morning and those who weren’t. Gee, I sound like I’ve been conducting research or something… the results of my study will be published in next month’s Journal of Sexual Conquests. I’m now looking for volunteers to participate in my new project which seeks to evaluate the efficacy of different tongue techniques…

Trust my word (although I'm only in my early 50's), men NEVER lose their sex drive - it just sometimes need a bit of coaxing. Men need to be wanted just like women - perhaps more so. When a man knows he isn't going to get any, for lack of a better term, he doesn't anticipate anything.

Its also related to the more you get the more you want syndrome - which applies to men and women alike.
