Feeling nervous about next Tues.

Posted by Lemonaide on July 25, 2008, at 23:20:05

My T said he was going to try to meet with my T, so hopefully I will know something next session. I didn't go to the gym today, I didn't want to deal with possibly seeing my T's. Well the real reason is that I did a ton of gardening the day before and I have thorns in my hands and feet. grrrrrrrrrr.

I told my T that I hope that their meeting will not change our relationship (me and current T's) He said not to worry about it. He said he knows me and what my old T says won't change how he views me. My current T does know more about me than anyone. But I just feel anxious of them talking to each other, I feel anxious if I will talk to my old T. I have to decide what exactly I want from him. But there is also a chance that my T will think I shouldn't meet with my old T. I told him I would accept what he thinks is best. I know he is looking out for me, so I trust that.

A new cute thing we do now, since we talk about the old Bob Newhart Show. At the end of the session I ask, Time's Up? We always laugh at that, my T wishes it was that easy with all his clients. I was even in tears one time, I knew we ran out of time, and I could tell he knew, but wasn't sure how to end it. So I got up to the edge of my chair, and said Time's Up? I love that we have inner jokes like that. I have good boundaries with him and I like that. I wish you all could meet him. ;-)

Your current T seems like a really good person..I think it will be interesting for you to know how it went and I think your current T can only be more helpful and caring to you after meeting this person.

I think it's really cute how you can end your session...I wish I could do that...I just sit on the couch with the pillow and glare at him as he opens the door....that's no way to end :/

Feeling nervous about next Tues. - Bag It + Relax

Two things:

First of all, both of those guys work or have worked for you. It is you who gets to decide whether that conversation takes place. If you and your new therapist have a good understanding and rapport, I fail to see what your "Old T" can add to your new therapists insight except acrimony and bile. If you feel that that conversation will not serve your interests alone, it should not happen. If I were you, I would call off both those guys.

Re: Old T Forget that clown. Hes history. You should drop him like a bag of dirt. The reason you are in this fix now, is because he did such a lousy job helping you get up to speed in the first place. When a guy gets fired in football, the GM gets on TV and always says "He just didn't get it done." And thats your Old T. He just didn't get it done. You're the GM. Send him to the minors

You left because your T didn't walk you out???? My T never ever walks me out. And your brief description sounds exactly like what happened to me last session. It sounds like you weren't a good fit for each other Phillipa, but I think that you might consider trying to move past the people that haven't helped you and look for proactive ways to help yourself in your life. That could mean getting a hobby, getting another T, buying a self-help book, going on a vacation, all sorts of things.

I agree. Football and beer in a man-cave or drinks in a chi-chi martini bar work for me.

Whatever the chick equivalent is - do that.

Yeah, you are right, is is one of the good guys, not just for a T, but as far as humans go. I hope I will know something Tuesday. I am really curious.

I also think I saw my old T drive past my house yesterday when I was watering flowers. I felt a presence and I turned around and looked at the traffic and saw him drive by. I know I sound like a freak, but I can feel presences of my grandma, and others. It is weird.
