It's one thing to be depressed. It's another thing when that depression gets to the point of having thoughts of suicide.
Do any of you have a specific plan of suicide established? What do you do as to not act on it?

Are you ok, Mary? Are you feeling suicidal?
Babble can be a great source of support, but it's no substitute for real life help. If you're feeling unsafe, you should call your therapist or psychiatrist.

Mixedmary,
I feel worried for you - I hope you have people who you can talk to about this - friends, relatives, professionals.
When depression is severe i.e. strong suicidal ideation, it can be hard to keep safe - that's why it's important you have people around you, those who you can trust, with whom you can confide when you feel this way.
If you are in therapy, try to talk this over with your therapist - it might be that you can make certain arrangements to help you keep safe when you feel this way, this is what I've done.
Sorry, not sure if this is that helpful - I'd rather not talk about plans as it's triggering for me - the answer is yes - and to stop myself from acting on it, I force myself to be honest about what's going on in my head when I feel this bad - I also have sedation meds i.e. benzos, which have helped a lot. If things are really bad and you are alone, please consider phoning a help line and checking yourself into the nearest A&E.

Hi MixedMary,
I have a plan, the last time I was seriously going to act on it what kept me from carrying it out was I signed a "no harm agreement" with my T and saw a pdoc for new meds.
I got much needed support and understanding, here, let us know how you are doing.

Agree don't be alone and call a doc or crisis line or admit yourself to the hospital main thing is to remain safe and good luck. You can do it. Phillipa

Hi Mary,
Yes, I have thought of alot of plans.. What stops me I think is that I have three sons.. I know that I would totally screw up their lives if they ever found out I did it on purpose.. Even if they didn't, they would lose their mom.. I might have my issues but they love me. It kind of sucks when I think I have to stay here for someone else..
This is the end of the thread.
