Hi..
just wanted to share something nice..
I've been struggling to open up and share with my T, for a long time now. I'm struggling with my T's comments to bring the adult back into the room, and trying to find the way to share, I feel lost about it because I can't find the way to talk and be spontaneous in session or build on from one session to the other, even after my T has proved to me I can trust her.
Well, I adore my pets and she knows how in a way, they represent the little girl in me, and they are really important to me, I adore them. She is an animal-lover too, which is important to me.After hesitating a lot and going around in circles, I found the way to ask her if I could bring one of my pets to session with me next time. She agreed :-) She knows how important it is...I told her it might help me feel more connected to her...or safer.
I've got gp's (i don't write completely because I don't feel safe with this post to appear in google easily)..they are very fearful animals and you have to gain their trust slowly and then they are so sweet, they like hiding in their tents or accesories and are very sweet.I'll take one of them in his travelling bag.
I feel excited about her meeting my dear cavy.
It'll be difficult to know what to do because I am always scared of "moving" and even find it hard to stand up and hand her a note..so it will be difficult to know how to hand it in to her if she wants to, or take him out of the bag and put him on my lap.I feel happy about this :-) Maybe it will help me feel more connected to my T. It truly meant a lot that she accepted.
just wanted to share

One of my cats has been to both T and pdoc with me. (It was not SOP -- the pdoc asked me to bring him, so my T said she wanted to meet him, too.) My T said that she had a client who always brought a cat with her.
In a way, it did feel closer to my T, having my beast with me. I felt more of that soft internal feeling I get from him. On the other hand, in my case, I was also afraid I wouldn't be able to drive if I cried too much, and had him to worry about.
But I'm glad I did it. I hope your GPs work out as well for you. I think it's a nice idea. We used to have a tortie one, years back, called Frederick. (Never pronounced "Fredrick," by the way.) He was sweet, but chewed everything in sight.

Hi Frida,
I've asked my T if I could bring one of my cats and she said no. You (and Racer) are really lucky that your Ts are pet friendly.

that's wonderful! i have often wanted to take in one of my babies too... but my T has a lot of phobic clients and so i know not to even ask. But my pdoc allows it. He is an avid dog lover and thinks litlle doo-doo is the sweetest boy.
