I signed up a couple of days ago.
I posted about my years of anxiety and depression and now my only brother passed away.
I have always thought if anything happened to him I would just die.
He was found dead after three days last Aug.
My psycharist has me on different medications and I see a therapist and went to some grief support meetings.
I can't get him off my mind.
I got to his house the next day and where he had died there was a bloody print of his body and the house smelled.
I was already in shock and I screamed instead of cried.
I went to see someone for EMDR and she would not do it said I was not stable enough so my dr has mentioned ECT would that help in a grief and shock situation?
Please I need some feedback.
My am my brothers only survivor. I am married and have a grown daughter but I don't even have any family that I can grief with.
I smell his house and can't get it out of my head.

I'm so sorry that happened. Keep going to Ts until you find that works for you. Then you can work on stability until you get to the EMDR work. Stability is the key to any treatment's success, except maybe biological treatments. I'm not sure why your dr. would suggest ECT unless you have had depression like this for many years that is not responding to medication. I always thought it was a treatment used for severe depression kind of as a last resort, but I could be wrong.

I don't know why ECT would be recommended either. I recently did ECT, and I wish I had not. I will not tell you what to do, but I will recommend you consider a second opinion from another doctor. ECT is a very drastic step to take, and I am not aware of anyone who has not had problems of one sort or another afterwards, problems with memory. I would hope this therapist is not recommending ECT thinking that you will forget about how upset you are about your brother.
My brother died last July, and he was the last of my immediate family. It sucks to be an orphan of sorts. I have a husband too, but he is not very supportive especially now. He recently lost his mother. Have you thought about going to a support group for grief counseling? I am not suggewsting you replace therapy, but I wonder if something like that would help. I did that after my mother died.
