Ready For Tomorrow~

Posted by LadyBug on October 25, 2006, at 0:18:58

Sorry I don't have the time to reply to any posts tonight. I go in for my total knee replacement surgeries in the morning. I have my right knee done tomorrow and the left knee done on Monday. I will be spending 10 days in the hospital! That's a long time! I made an appointment with my T tonight. I'm so glad I did. It was just the thing I needed to prepare my last min. thoughts and feelings. Towards the end of the hour I told her I wished for a hug but knew I didn't want to break a boundary. She said under the circumstances she felt it would be ok. She said how do you feel about it? I thought for about 1/2 sec. and said, I'm ok with it. She got up and opened her arms and said here's your hug. It felt totally warm and caring. She said if it was something we needed to talk about later that we would. I'm sure we will discuss it at a later date. I said I love you and she said I love you too. I've been seeing her for almost 10 years. I have grown to love her deeply as I believe she cares for me and has great reqard for me as her patient.
I will miss my computer while in the hospital. I wish I had a lap top with wireless internet, but oh well, I think I will have much to do taking care of my new knees!
Take care all and if you're having a hard time, I hope it passes soon.
Thanks for being my babble friends. This place has helped me along my journey in therapy.
I'll be back as soon as I am up to it!
Peace!
Love
LadyBug

I am happy that you were able to tell her what you wanted/needed at that moment. And good for her for giving it to you. Tuck that memory away in your instant smile zone. You'll want to draw upon it during those hard days following surgery. My next door neighbor had both knees done last spring. Those first few days following surgery are not easy. But you will get through them, one day at a time.

Good Luck!!

Take care. I'll be thinking of you.

Just keep holding on to the thought of no pain at the end.

I'm glad your therapist realized that there are special circumstances.
