I once read something that Jung said and I paraphrase it to say that if you don't embrace your demons, they will bite you in the *ss.
I don't even know if I am talking about the same thing you guys are, but I like that saying. In other words, I have had no success denying aspects of myself that may be considered the dark side. If I bring them out in the open and shine some light on them, why, they are just part of who I am.
What am I babbling about? I don't know. Probably on the wrong board though.

Donna, I know what you are babbling about and I think it is right-on. The Jungians talk about owning your shadow. So do many Buddhists, like Pema Chodron. She says these demons...these negative emotions, can be used to open the heart and become a path to enlightenment. And I don't think this view is just an idle philosophical
opinion. It gives me hope.

warm regards, Jake

Jake, for me, it is definately not just an idle philosophical opinion. I experienced the release of facing the demons instead of running from them. Embracing them even. Then they are nothing. They are only something when denied.
I am so glad you understand what I am talking about. It is a subject hard for me to describe with words.

thanks so much,

donna

I'm trying to get more in touch with my "deep self"... intuition, dreams, gut feelings. At times in the past they have been guides for me, giving me positive direction.

really I do, they're one of my favorite symbols although I haven't tried to understand why too much. I look for them on clothes, in jewelry, in decorative stuff
I've got a dragon made out of paper as a reminder not to be afraid (of certain things that relate to my fears about myself)

I'm gonna check out that Robert Moore guy, thanks :-)
