really didn't need this right now...

Posted by B2chica on June 16, 2006, at 9:33:31

i had a pdoc appt yesterday. this is the guy that's been there for me through the ROUGHEST part of my illness. the last two years.
he told me yesterday that he's closing his practice. he said that it was just too much for him. see he actually works for a government agency full-time and had a small practice on the side.
the good part is that he said that he would still be around town and that i had his pager number and could still call if i needed him. that in an emergency i (or hospital) could call him and he'd come help. but that he was mostly referring his patients elsewhere.
so i guess i felt good cuz i can still see him if i needed to (thinking pregnancy issues here).

but if i felt i needed to be more 'covered' he'd recommend someone to me. which he did.

i guess i'm just mixed, cuz on the one hand, he's just too good and i would hate to see this good of a doctor get burnt out, and he does have a family that he wants to spend time with. and i'd want him around too. so i'm happy for him.
but maaaaaaaan
i never really had abandonment issues till i got into this stupid world of psych!

and i guess i'm a little scared too cuz he Knew me. he always made me feel sane and grounded. and he didn't believe in pushing drugs.
i'm just going to miss him soooooooooo much. (tear)

this is a smaller town and there just isn't good psych care here. he was one in a million.
but i guess i do feel good that he isn't leaving town, he isn't loosing his license, and that he did say i could still call him or paige him whenever i needed.

ok...i'm done for now.
(heart feeling a little ripped right now)

Oh B2chica I am so sorry. I come from a small town or area where it si hard to get good care and I understand that not only the loss is hard but the prospect of getting good care is scary too. I will be thinking about you. Take care of yourself

Hi B2chica,

Bummer. Are you going to call the pdoc he recommended? Just to meet him/her and see if it might be an okay fit?

It's good that your good pdoc will still be available for emergencies, but no emergencies, okay? Try to hold onto that feeling of being grounded and sane.

I'm in a major urban area, with a medical school, so pdocs are plentiful. My glitch is which ones are covered by my insurance plan. Though Dr. Clueless is getting better, I might have to change her name to LessClueless.

Good luck.

Oh, B2 ((((((((B2))))))) What is it this week with T's? I am glad I didn't see mine this week. You must be hurting so much right now. I would be so upset. But please take care of yourself and your little one. How long is he giving you a notice for?

All I can say is I'm very sorry this happened. (nm) » B2chica

I'm so sorry b2. I hope whoever he referred you to, is someone he has confidence in, and someone you'll really like. You're right the timing sure isn't the best, but I'm glad he'll be there for you if you need him.

When I read your post it struck fear in my heart since my pdoc is not too far away from retirement age. I know how it feels to have that one in a million.

((((hugs))))

well. i've decided i'm not going to be too worried right now. he did tell me that i can still call/paige him if needed. since he knows my history and my wishes on medication during pregnancy. if the hospital needs to call anyone i REALLY want it to be him. so i've decided to wait getting hooked up with a new one until after i've had the baby. this way if anything happens with me, well, he's really the ONLY one i totally trust with my life and well being. so i will just make sure that all my docs know of each other. and how to get ahold of him.
the only real big dissappointment is not being able to see that cute little face of his at our appointments. D@mn is he YuMmy!
but i guess if i was his wife i'd certainly want him home more also!

thanks all for all your support. i needed it.
b2c.
