My T never dianosed me with anything except PTSD and I cured from that. He didn't believe I had any mental disorders or personality disorders at least at the time. So I wonder what he is thinking if I keep falling into my hole. Is that a disorder or just normal thing going through therapy?

I try not to get hung up on diagnosis as I tend to try and "match" myself to a certain illness. Sometimes, however, the desire to give a name and an explanation as to how I feel is very strong and all I want is that diagnosis. It would allow me to feel as though "this is not my fault, I'm sick".
Right now I am writing to you from the bottom of my hole. I know how you feel and it sucks.
I have several theories about the hole and falling into it.1. It happens, not because of an established illness, but rather when we encounter something that we just don't have the coping skills to deal with it. Our hurt outstrips our capacity to deal. Hence the freefall.
2. For me, bipolar disorder can not be ruled out. Sometime sudden depression is the primary symptom of bipolar and the mania is quite mild.
3. It is an offshoot of PTSD.
4. It is depression.
During this time in the hole, I'm trying to look at it like I am like "gopher" from winnie the pooh. Gopher spends most of his life in holes and is quite happy there. He even has a little miner's hat so he can see in his hole. That image usually makes me laugh.
So get your miner's cap, turn on the light and look around in your hole.
And keep us posted.
Love
Maddie.

Hence the freefall.I hope this is my case(#1) because the bipolar thing freaks me out because I think my mother has it. I could be mildly depressed too and I can handle that but bipolar is scary for me. My T says that I am not bipolar, so I hope he is right. Who knows what he thinks after this week though.

My T has never refered to me as having done that but sometimes I refer to myself as to have fallen in a hole. It is dark there, a place that is scary and a place where I am unable or unwilling to see the light. Maybe that is what he was refering too?

Were you falling down the hole before you ever saw your T? Were you falling down the hole in the very beginning of your therapy?

I was in a hole before I saw my T due to PTSD. But I go in and out of that hole emotionally due to all the junk in my life going on. This time my T is the cause of me going into the hole I think. I will be okay though. Thanks Susan.

Hey rubenstein,
I used the term falling into a hole myself, my T didn't say that. It is just how it feels sometimes when things are going well , then WHAM, they I go trippin and fallin again.
So how are you doing? How is the music school handling everything now?
I am sure when then happened my T's daugher (who also goes to IU) sometimes goes with one of her rich friends parents plane to come home.
It is so sad, one of the girls are from the city I live in now. Very sad indeed.
This is the end of the thread.
