I just had a session with my T and she basically terminated me because I don't have any issues to work on right now. Ha. She had this little depression map out of everything that "contributes" to depression, and because I'm doing well right now, and because none of those things have ever really contributed to my depression, she doesn't think that we have anything to work on.
While I'm mad, I'm also relieved. I dont' like her. She has told me to come back if I start feeling down again, but she refuses to accept that it's mostly bio-chemical and past experiences that do it for me.

I would love to hear where this 'map' came from, and why she doesn't recognize the very real bio-chemical aspect of depression. My biggest complaint about most T's is that they have absolutely no real experience with the disorders they are trying to provide therapy for, so must rely solely upon the DSM-IV and other diagnostic tools and guidlines. My T once even tried to tell me what a manic episode was like, as if I didn't know... He wasn't sure what I was because he felt my depressions didn't fit his model and I wasn't currently in a manic episode. Funny how happy he seemed when I went manic. Now I only go to him to get my meds refilled.
Glad your T helped you as much as mine!! My prayers that things stay good for you and you find a T that can understand you.
