does anyone here watch Starting Over on TV?

Posted by JenStar on May 23, 2005, at 18:43:07

hi guys,
do any of you watch the show "starting over" on American TV - it's on around noon daily? It's a reality-type show: a bunch of women, all with different but serious issues, are invited to live in a house together and try to solve their problems with the help of life coaches & a therapist.

I've become somewhat addicted to this show (it's one of the few things I actually tape!); I think what attracts me is the way they show the women having insights into their own behavior, and the way some of them seem to really make big improvements. I think to myself: If THEY can do it, so can I! Sometimes I think I tend to dwell on the negative stuff a lot, so I enjoy seeing and reading positive things too.

If you've seen it too, do you like it? And what do you think of the the therapist on the show? To me he seems pretty good.

Just wondering!
thanks,
jenStar

I quite like it, too! To be honest, I pay more attention to the interaction between the women and how that helps/hinders than to the therapist. There's a therapist?
I think that I'm projecting on how isolated I consistently act and feel, but what I really like about that show is seeing people help each.

I haven't seen it in a couple of weeks but I love the show since it was on from the beginning. I have learned a lot!

Yes! I'm so addicted! I'm a little embarassed about it, but i feel better that others enjoy it too! They have a website that is pretty interesting (www.startingovertv.com).

I think that Dr. Stan is pretty good, but I'm not a huge fan of Iyanla. I think that some of her ideas are over the top and she pushes people too much. I like Rhonda pretty well.

All good Life-Coaching stuff... Yes, Dr Phil has a PhD and is a licensed 'shrink', however, his TV shows and specials are more like Life-Coaching and less like therapy, in texture and flavor....
