I am been diagnosed as having ADHD as an adult about over 6 months ago.My doctor has increased my dosage of dexemphatamines from 20mg a day to 30mg.inorder to get through the entire day. Please understand that in Australia we do no have the long acting stimulantes available becuase there is no market for them. The only medical treatment we have is dexemphatamines generic and ritalin. My question is that since I am limited in my choices i want the medication to work for me at the optimum level.I have tried to increase the bioavailability by either administrating the drug by the buccal route and/or administer it to the mucous membrane via nose.I sometimes do this so its not destroyed by the GI tract. Is this a good idea or am I just wasting the medicine since it has no impact and doesn't get through its intented site.
Should I just take it as its intented orally and put up with it being destroyed from what I have read 40-50% of the time by the liver.
By the way I really notice no difference when I the unorthodox route however I only do it 1 out 6 times in the day and the rest of the time follow prodical.Your imput will be appreciated.

Welcome to Babble, Appadoo. This site can be a bit confusing since it has several boards. I think you were probably looking for the medication board (plain) Psycho-Babble, so I redirected your post there.
Hopefully they'll be able to help you with some answers there.
