Resistence is futile!......(Star Wars quote)

Posted by Kalamatianos on January 5, 2004, at 16:24:43

To resist change, I have to deny it's power, strength, and inevitability. As a child, I had the illusion I could AVOID change. I assure you I didn't understand change and I thought I could avoid it.

If I what I know is a molecule in size compared to what I don't even know that I don't know, then what I don't know is almost everything.

Hypothesis: if there is a change that can make my life better, but I don't even know that I don't know about that change, how can I judge it something to be resisted without screwing myself?

I may not know everything about how our planet goes around it's Sun, but I hold confident that each and every second in time is different from any other second in time. Change is happening whether I like it or not. That's inevitability....

If I can't see what a difference the change will make, I am denying the power of change. If I can't see how change will help me to withstand the rigors of life, I am denying the new found strength available from the change.

Why then do people get excited by a windfall of money or material goods? Don't they readily embrace unexpected money and gifts? These are changes. These are unexpected warping of the future. Why aren't these resisted?

Dr Bob wants to change a couple of sites and many voted that they don't like change so don't do it. What is so different about Dr Bob's sites than an unexpected gift delivered by the UPS driver?

Hmm, thats a good question, but hard to explain (at least for me). I don't want him to change it because I have gotten "attached" to the way it is. I naturally resist change most of the time. I like the name Psychological Babble because that is what is was called when I got here. If it had been called Psycho Babble Pyschotherapy when I got here, then I wouldn't want that changed either. Know what I mean? It doesn't really make a lot of sense, but it's little changes that throw me off. Not that this one will, but I just don't like change.
The difference between this and UPS?
*Bob doesn't make us sign for anything on those handheld computer thingies, and expect for our signature to come out looking like actual handwriting. (there's an analogy in there somewhere) Ugh. I do not like those things. It's like writing on an etch-a-scetch. :)
