Is it reasonable to expect that recurrent depression can eventually be cured? It seems I hear about most people having this condition for years, and it has become an integral part of their lives. Of maybe that is because people who are cured don't get involved with lists like this.

I've heard that the typical depression resolves by itself in 6 months. I've also heard that anti-depressants are effective for most people. So the prognosis is really very good!
You are correct in assuming that those people don't come to message boards like this. We have the non-typical depressions, and we aren't most people. But at least we have found each other.
