Hi, Newbie here and not quite sure how this works, but here goes: My APRN decreased my zoloft to 50 mg. last week and added 20 mg. of Cymbalta. I did not want to change meds, but was feeling desperate, so finally agreed. I am surprisingly feeling better and was wondering if anyone knew if I could stay on both the zoloft and the cymbalta. I'm afraid to rock the boat by going off the zoloft completely and feel as if the cymbalta could be a good adjunct. Has anyone tried this combination or other combinations of anti-depressants with success? I am also taking seroquel to sleep and a maintenace dose of klonopin. Thank-you! :)

Rose is fine! Thank-you for responding to my question. I'm still tryig to find my way around this board.!
My APRN assured me that I could stay on the two meds and since things seem to be working at the moment, I'm hoping to do so.
My latest concern is weight gain! I know we're around the holidays, but my diet and level of activity is basically the same yet I've gained one pound! After gaining 20 pounds from both the zoloft and seroquel, I really don't want to deal with any additional wieght issues....and I did manage to find a thread about weight gain with Cymbalta....now if I can just find it again! You said you've been around for some time. May I ask what med issues you've encountered? And, is it ok to say that I am so tired of medications? And, battling depression?
Again, thank-you for your time and response!
Meike/Rose:)

i was tired of meds too. now i really wish i had them!
about meds i have encountered: yikes! i have a poor memory (i am old!). i've tried lithium, depakote, topamax (yup, that's the one that works best for me). and so many other meds, it's impossible to even remember them. lithium made me delusional (called my dr once saying 'my walls are bending, help me!' and they were bending! and i thought my dog was trying to kill me (hey, he was a big doggie!). i have an apt with pdoc jan 8 (god, is it jan 8 yet?).
oh, i'm dx with bipolar disorder, btw (among other things). and i've been given so many ad (antidepressants, you'll learn the lingo quick!) that i couldn't begin to recall them. but, i did take one (for the life of me i can't remember it) that threw me into a full-out manic attack (seriously, like not knowing where i was, little sleep for over a month, being completely inappropriate (me? ha!) in behavior. once, i was watching some news program for a class and i thought dan rather was talking directly to me, through the tv screen.
and you can of course say that you are tired of depression. trust me, people here will sympathize more than you'd think. i think everyone here is tired of depression (it sucks!!!!).
take care rose (you know, my niece's middle name is rose and i call her rosie. you aren't 5 years old, are you?). and have a very happy holidays.(oh, and good luck using the search method. kk's never been able to figure out how to use it right)
bye bye sweetie pie,
kk
