getting off remeron

Posted by robilar on August 5, 2006, at 3:27:17

I've been prescribed Remeron for sleep. I've been taking 15-30mg./hs for about 5 weeks and to make a long story short my symptoms have only worsened. When I told the doctor he just told me to quit. Is this safe?? He said there should be no problems and made no mention of tapering. Thanks

Hi, I was just looking around, and realized nobody is saying hi to the newbies. It's not really an assigned job, but I'm sorry for not checking. You are very welcome here. It doesn't look like you asked on the withdrawal board about the remeron, which is a good place here for that specific question. It may be you've already stopped or found the info you need, but I wanted to acknowledge your introduction and point you in the right direction.

Hi, robilar.

Sorry that remeron didn't help with sleep. Did you try lower doses?

I'm not an expert on remeron, but I did try it at about 5 mg. Knocked me right out-- not in a good way-- but out.

I read a little at the time, and it seemed that higher doses were less effective in knocking you out-- and lower doses were more soporific.

I'm not sure about 15 mg. Maybe, as James K said, you're off already.

Are you trying any other sleep aids? Check out the psychobabble main page (biological treatments) for many discussions of this issue.

Welcome to Babble,

Jost
