I had many episodes of Severe depression over a 20 year period. Had been medicated on seratonin reuptakes....nothing "held." I became suicidal, was hospitalized....nothing would ever work for me!
A dear friend who had had much the same history as I, told me about the doctor and the "tool" he used to pinpoint just the right medication....she "popped right out of the dark pit after a few days, and was fine ever since (at a 3 year marker at that time).
Luckily, I was able to get this wonderful doctor's help....and though the first try did not work....we did find the right med, added light therapy, and I have been depresssion free for going on two years.
But a terrible fatigue hung on....again, through another friend, and doing a lot of my own medical detective for myself (I'm from a healthcare background)discovered low thyroid (new information is available nowdays re lab ranges that always show "normal" but the symptoms are there.
With an Integrated healthcare approach: i.e., the accurate psych meds (minimal amounts now), taking Armour thyroid, the light lamp, seeing an Internist and an Orthomolecular Allergist...I take many supplements...cellular energy genarators...digestive plant enzymes for a metabolic dysfunction, and better nutrition and of course, exercise (mainly walking)....I have my life back.
I so want to give HOPE to those of you who are "in the pit" and suffering terribly....please look into r-EEG and MD's who are truly healers....all of my doctors believe in blending the best of the Alternate therapies with traditional Western medicine.
Long ago, I read on this site, someone saying "sounds like 'snake oil,' to me"....believe me, it is a true tool that helps your doctor pinpoint the "right' medication...too much "educated guessing" went on in my case, and I suffered far too much and too long! And, almost lost everything I owned.
Everyday I am full of thanks for my doctors (I had to search to find them) who are willing to make the effort to learn something new but are true healers. Nameste

Nameste,
I have a bit in common with you. Struggled with AD's til I found the right one, although not with the rEEG. I also added light therapy and a few supplements, and for the most part it's been a huge help.At the moment, I'm back in the pit, for a number of reasons, but reading your post gives me hope again. I'm so pleased you posted here.
Welcome to Babble,

Thank you, Jai Narayan, for your kind and warm welcome to the Psycho-Babble site.
I just returned from a trip and it is quite early in the am....I will be posting on the site as regularly as I possibly can. But for now, must get healing sleep.

Thank you, gardenergirl, for your welcoming response to my first "post." I am so pleased to hear that my message gives you hope.
We'll be sharing more...I just returned from a trip, it is early am here, and I must get to sleep.
Hopefully, the positive thoughts I send up to the Creator/Healer on your behalf (before
I sleep) will help boost your efforts to ascend
up and out of the slump downward at the moment...
it is only temporary!Till later...N.
