What is the starting dose? I didn't notice any negative side effects when I started on 20mgs.

sorry, just a bit confused - was this a response to my thread in the main forum?
i took 10mg yesterday. i noticed an increase in anxiety/obsessiveness, and an aggravation of insomnia. the former's an expected start-up side-effect, i gather, and i was prescribed low dose amitriptyline to treat the latter.
what sucks is that the very condition i'm trying to treat makes complying with treatment next to impossible. though i've promised myself i'll try stick with prozac for a while unless it kills me.
i was told to take 10mg for 6 days, then go straight to 20mg. can 10mg be taken as a therapeutic dose, or is 20mg sort of the minimum for major depression, etc.?

10 can work as well. I would stick with it if you can bear it. Its pretty weak as far as reuptake inhibitors go. You might find more relief with the higher dose. I don't know anything about OCD and which meds are the best, but if you trust your doc try to stick it out. Its the only way to find out if it works, and if you don't you will always be wondering.

are you referring to the dose, or Prozac in general?

I'm talking about Prozac in general compared with other SSRIs.

Conundrum have you tried Mirtazapine?
For me when I tried 3 odd years ago, when it did work it really did boost hedonic and emotional drive. Never should have stopped in the first place. Can't get my hands on ít right now.
'
Currently on 30 mg Abilify.

Neither my regular doc or pdoc will prescribe remeron. My pdoc doesn't like the weight gain and my regular doc says she doesn't know enough about that drug.
How was the ECT? Is abilify helping?
This is the end of the thread.
