HI,
I know it is wildly inappropriate to try to contact a member of PB (especially one that you do not know) but I really, really need to get Brainbeard's inputs on my planned drug cocktail.
Actually, I am a bit desperate.Brainbeard seems to speak a lot about 5ht2c antagonism shown by Prozac versus Geodon in his posts (from what I gather). And this is exactly what I am grappling with at the moment. He also seems to know the drawbacks of this antagonism by Prozac and perhaps he may know a way to augment to get around the problems. Or maybe to avoid Prozac altogether. I don't know.
I have tried following his threads but I get completely lost because they are rather complicated.
His babblemail is off which I assume means either he simply didn't think to turn it on or that he doesn't want to be contacted/disturbed. If it is the former and anyone knows him personally (email)could you please request him to look at my thread.
My thread is here: http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/neuro/20090701/msgs/923807.html
I'm about to start my new cocktail (all totally invented by me, with my limited knowledge) and I really want to be somewhat on the right track (as I cannot bear yet another complete failure, like Parnate was)
I would REALLY value his expert input.
I would be eternally grateful for any help on this matter- seriously. So if its not too much to ask, and you do know how to reach him, I would really appreciate it if you could kindly pass my request on to him.
Thanks so much
Take care
D

He'll probably reply to this thread, but I think Phidippus has contact with him.

I like this - being talked of as a living legend. The mysterious guy who knows it all. Yet nobody really knows him.
As a layman p-doc, I have only expertized myself in a couple of square millimeters of pharmacotherapeutical knowledge. I'm always happy to use what little knowledge I have to think along, advise or criticize.
The blessed Phidippus drew my attention to turning on my Babblemail - I never knew it was off! So I guess it should work now, although I wouldn't know how to see if I got mail. One of my regular email addresses is meite_u@hotmail.com.
I have yet to look at the thread. I'm having less time for my pharmacotherapeutical obsessions these days. I intend to have a look at it soon.

I tell my g/f that I have to talk to Dr. Brainbeard about something and she laughs and then says "You don't know who he is! He's not a doctor!" I think its funny.
When I started taking Buspar at 10mg a day I noticed some improvement in motivation. Adding 5mg of Prozac seemed to nullify that effect and even make me feel worse. Strange. In fact when I started at 5mgs I didn't eat dinner two nights. It was like the opposite of what a 5-HT2C antagonist should do. In a couple weeks I'm gonna get a script for 30mgs of buspar. After a couple weeks on that I'll bump prozac to 10 mgs and see how that feels.
This is the end of the thread.
