Deplin will not cause pernicious anemia

Posted by Phillipa on January 27, 2008, at 0:22:57

Went back to the Deplin website and it will not cause pernicious anemia. It will mask it if you already have it. And will lower the ability of mood stabalizers to work. So my take of Deplin is that if you are on no mood stabalizers and already have tested with normal red blood cell counts and no anemia Deplin is safe to take alone. Any comments? Did I read it right . And it does take a few weeks to work and only as an addition to an axisting ad. It is not in itself an ad. Love Phillipa

We're not doctors, and we don't have knowledge of your medical history, the specific risks of this particular surgery, etc. In fact, if you were a nurse, you probably should know more about the answer to this than most of the rest of us do.

If you're this worried, maybe it's worth stopping the Deplin until after the surgery? That *should* remove this particular worry entirely.

Good luck.

Thanks for caring the website if you search around says no pernicious anemia from the med. It would be very important for any surgery as your rbc's would be down so any bleeding transfusion time. And the size of the red blood cells are malformed not a good thing. Phillipa

I don't feel I missed you point which is quite valid but have been searching around the deplin site and if you don't have pernicious anemia it will not cause it. And since no side effects emotionally will stay with it. I am mentioning it to anesthesia if they ever call for the screening and have to drop off papers to plastics guy one of the two who will be operating and run it by their office girl whom I know is not trained in medical stuff. So we'll see. I know I was a nurse but this is some wierd stuff. Need more info and I think deplin needs more time to see what results people are having. Not quiting this time unless something significant shows up on me or new info. Thanks again Racer.

I'd like to rephrase that

Phillipa, I'm glad if you didn't miss the point I was trying to make. I realized that the subject line I posted was probably not the most tactful thing I could have said, and I'm sorry about that -- blame a combination of iffy communication skills and limited space for subject lines.

I hope you weren't offended by it -- that wasn't my intent.
