Hey, well i just came back! and wow what happened? a new board! dr-bob are you going to change your name next? im joking!
Well, what i have mainly noticed from Prozac, in the beggining about 2 years ago when i took it, it did nothing, nothing nothing nothing. I was only 20mg.
But for some reason, i have actually seem to mentally grown on Prozac, i have developed emotions that i have never felt before....felt a diffrent way about life. Before when i took stimulants for ADHD the only diffrence i noticed from them was that increased alertness, focus, and i didnt talk as much. Prozac has actaully changed my personality!
What is it doing up there in my head? fixing things? i mean, from 2003 till now i have GROWN TREMENDOUSLY in my view point of life. And espcieally when i got on Prozac 40mg.
My whole world changed. Like i saw it diffrently. Well we all grow, and see life from a diffrent point of view after the years we have lived. But Prozac for some reason has made my world diffrent. A better world.
Now what i want to know, its a Selective Serotonin Reptake Inhibitor, what is it doing? i know its blocking serotoin from being reabsorbed but how, and could my brain have grown some new nuerons? from Prozac? Because i feel much more grown than i did before i took it.
What nuerons does it cover bedides serotonin?

Is your prozac brand or generic? Have you ever tried both for a comparison? Any difference?
The little I know is that prozac is a little dirtier than other ssris, not quite as selective for just serotonin, though its effects on other things are probably too low to be meaningful. Paxil, effexor, and zoloft probably have more meaningful effects on other neuros than prozac. But prozac has something different from the others. It is a mild antagonist of one of the serotonin receptors, which causes an increase of brain norepinephrine and dopamine, unlike the other ssris.
All the drugs have effects far beyond what we usually talk about. They turn the volume up or down on certain genes, enzymes, and all kinds of stuff that is over my head when I read it.
Curious of your take on brand prozac vs generic.

Thats wierd!
Prozac has worked great for me. I feel im living a life! not a depressed life!
I take the generic kind 40mg capsule in mornings with Deplin. Works great i just got back from church, had something to eat, and now on computer. I dont feel bad at all, but ill tell ya, at night is when i feel prozac's effects increase tremndously, i feel almost like a mild euphoria. Thats wierd.
What you mean its dirty? I would never take Paxil.
Zoloft made me "numb" or i felt i couldnt express emotion, and it would cause some irrtiblity and some mad spells.
But thanks for the imput.

> Prozac has worked great for me. I feel im living a life! not a depressed life! Not weird at all. Actually what is weird is that when they do metastudies to judge the overall effectiveness of various drugs, lexapro and effexor score at the top of the list and prozac is toward the bottom of the list. Despite all the supposed so-called advances in antidepresants, a doctor here has hundreds of patients on prozac with a much smaller number on other antidepressants. Makes you wonder about the accuracy of those studies.

Of them all, prozac was the best to me.
