Nikki - how are you?

Posted by scratchpad on February 14, 2007, at 14:36:09

Do you think the injections are helping you?

Happy valentines day.
Oh, and happy viagra day, too - I heard about that one on the morning news!

hey!

Had the final set of injections yesterday..

unfortunately, they don't seem to have helped.. I'm meant to see the doc again after 4 weeks, but she's busy and having a holiday, so its 2 months before I can see her again..

ho hum. (change that for swear words of your choice! *l*)

trying to work out how to change my life to make it easier.. but we can't afford for me to cut my working hours any more (London is hellishly expensive as anyone who has been here will know!), and as much as we would like to move nearer to my job, all I want to do when at home is rest so its not likely to happen any time soon..

at a loss I think is the best way to explain my current state of mind over it.

n xx

Nikki, I had really hoped they would have helped you find relief. I'm so very sorry - I don't know how I would cope. I can relate to having chronic pain - my migraines started before I was a toddler and I can't honestly remember an entire week without a headache - but at least with headaches, they can subside on their own for a while, as they cycle off and on.

Is it an issue of mobility, or being able to stay awake enough for a full week's worth of work, while on high doses of pain relief? Some creative problem solving might find a way for you to cope.

(((Nikki))) Maybe the injection sites were way off the mark in targeting the pathway your pain is taking?

What about accupuncture? Oprah had an expert on the show and before and after lady and it worked on her chronic shoulder pain. Just a thought. Love Phillipa

Nikki,

So sorry the injections don't seem to be helping. Waiting is so draining when you are in pain.

Imagine your migraine ~every~ day for the last few years.. *sighs*

She tried various different places for th enjections, even the other shoulder incase I was getting refered pain..

The problems are.. I have a 90 minute drive to and from work.. this causes me incredible pain where I simply can't concentrate.. I can't drive on the painkillers that give me any relief, and can't really even work when taking them as they make me so spaced out.. So I have to cope with ~no~ pain relief during the day..

And I don't know how much longer I can do it.. Not long I don't think. My marriage is seriously suffering as outside of work all I want to do is take copious amounts of pain killers.. my friends are slowly giving up on me.. I make arrangements, and then realise I cannot do them.. I have arrangements for tmorrow (saturday), that I know I can't do.. I don't know why I made the plans, but they're plans I can't get out of now.

If I lose my job I can't pay the bills.. we can't afford to live here on just my husbands wage, but my husbands job isn't one that he could easily get elsewhere.. and, anyway, we're not in a position to sel our flat as it needs a fair amount of work doing on it, and like I said, all I can do outside of work is space out.

I guess its the fact there is now no hope really.. My pain will never be any better, and being a progressive thing, it will now only get worse.

Creative problem solving?! *laughing* design a transporter that will get me from home to work, without crowds in under 90 minutes, where I don't have to carry anything?? Its not gonna happen unfortunately..

Oh well.. my contract at work runs out on 1st August anyway, so I'll be job hunting again at that point.. unlikely to get anything decent though due to my sickness record..!

Wonderful!

I have had ~alot~ of accupuncture.. it doesn't work.

Its not just chronic shoulder pain.. its a progressive screw up of the sympathetic nervous system.. Same as what Larry has.

I thought they were kind of the same. His is from an injury is yours. You don't have to answer if you don't want to. Love Phillipa

mines kind of from an injury.. but not from a sudden one off thing.. 14 years ago I got serious RSI (repetative strain injury), that was badly treated and has morphed into CRPS.

I'm just curently having alt of prolems coming to terms with the changes needed in my life for it..

I'm sorry you're struggling so hard right now, Nikki.

I know there are a lot of stressors on you right now, and you're feeling a little overwhelmed. It's hard to undergo a new treatment and find it might even have negative influences. One day at a time, Nikki. You need only get through today.

I'm not at all convinced that the only prognosis is a decline. Remission is always a possibility. Please, hold on to that.

I'm glad you're expressing your frustration. We're always here/hear for you.
