.. and I miss them all. Their legacies survive in films and music for many of us, and I mourn those who do not have a more permanent record than our fragile memories.

Yes. I am so grateful for the legacies that remain. And I am grateful for memories. Nobody can steal those from us and we can reach in and use them any time we wish to.

and i find myself wondering if i said all that i wanted to to them when they were here.......or did they know what an impact their body of work or their music had on me....i think of my parents and worry about things that i didn't say to them, because i just assumed that they knew i had learned it from them.......did i thank them enough for what they taught me..is my life a good enough reflection of them?

I think we make the peace we can while they are with us. After they have passed, they still can hear us, but can't respond anymore. If you have felt love and compassion, those close to you will have known it without saying anything aloud.
