Going to mass today

Posted by gardenergirl on June 1, 2008, at 1:50:38

By myself, unfortunately, since my husband is Protestant. But I decided that it was time I went back, especially since I've recently found so much comfort in the services I've viewed on TV during the Pope's visit and a community funeral, and in person when my nephew was baptized.

Wish me luck or something?

Thanks.

Yes! What rayww said goes for me, too. Would love to hear all about it...or as much as you'd wish to share...:-)

I also was moved by the Pope's visit, which had me actually glued to the television. This surprised me because I have for many years had serious misgivings about the Roman Catholic church, (not so very much the regular folk, with whom I've worked, worshipped, etc., but "The Church" and "the Pope") and therefore, I often summarily ignored anything to do with it. Which I don't actually beleive is the way for me to relate to other Christians who believe some things differently from me.....a bit disrespectful and arrogant of me to "dismiss" the entire RCC.

I think paying attention to all the many aspects of what this Pope said and did, and to the many ripple effects his presence had/has on particularly younger folks around the world pricked my conscience and opened my eyes and softened my heart....and I was glad for it. I saw it as God once again, using an endless variety of ways to get my attention....

Nice to see you posting, gg.
