I don't know if there is a god or many gods?

Posted by Jai Narayan on August 18, 2004, at 20:50:19

I look around the world and there are so many different religions....not just one belief or faith.

I love the variety.
We all have our own ideas, beliefs and heart felt notions of what is going on here on this planet.
I am in favor of any uplifting and elevating belief that does no harm.
I love all the faces of the God/Goddess.
Each image of God/Goddess is different and full of expression.

I celebrate the diversity of the spirit.
So many delightful ways to enlightment!

I agree whole-heartedly, Jai. I'm very open-minded to all benevolent points of view. I'm open to the wisdom of all religions. "My way is the only way" does not seem humble or spiritual.

I'll bet God has an opinion about it. As well as the answer.

His is the only opinion and answer I care about - the rest of us are merely speculating based upon our finite experiences.

***How do you know what is God's opinion?

That's the easy part. He's already revealed it.

I agree Dena, because personal revelation is the only way one can know for sure who God really is. I wouldn't say it's the easy part, because it takes sincerity, desire, asking, listening, faith, and to some degree necessity. We learn how to "hear" the voice of God by listening and paying attention to it.

Just because He has already revealed it to one doesn't mean He has revealed it to all, for even the words in the Bible must be received by the spirit in order to be understood.

If we believe in just the word without opening ourselves to revelation, we may as well join the dead god club, whatever that is. The living God lives. He breathes, speaks, inspires, loves, directs, supports us in our trials, and cares. He hugs, holds our hand, carries us, sheds tears with us and for us, because He even lets us fall if that is our choice. God has been real since the beginning of time (no beginning, or no end) yet man continues to challenge His authority with their own worship.

What are the dead gods? Money, power, fame,self-centeredness, the gold calf, and other graven images. I guess we all have our pets. DH's is work.

Retrack--- nothing on earth is actually dead. Even the rocks are subservient to God. Why does God allow such diversity in the way we believe? Agency and freedom of Religion. He has such love and respect for us that He allows us to make our own religions and organizations and learn from the successes and mistakes we make in them. He even reveals truth to all religions and organizations, and uses all of us to accomplish His purposes. God is no respector of persons, and He never gives up hope. I know there is truth all around us, free for the picking. Choose me, said the truth to the little blind man. Through truth the blind learn to see, the deaf can hear and zzzzzzzzzzz. good night.
