who is Christ?

Posted by rayww on January 4, 2004, at 20:52:23

What is the definition of Christ? The Bible states that Jesus is the Christ, but what is "the" Christ? Is it his last name, as in Jesus Christ? Or does it mean Messiah, Redeemer, Son of God, Immanuel? I went to my scripture dictionary for some answers.

The same questions being asked today about Jesus were being asked anciently too.

Many references of Jesus speaking through prayer to his father (Abba), signify there are two Gods, God the Father and God His son Jesus Christ. http://scriptures.lds.org/gen/1/26#26
(Let "us" create man in "our" own image. Who was who talking to?) And how can one speak without a mouth?

Verse 34 states that God the Father has hands, thus making him the likeness of man, or vice versa, we were created in the likeness of God.

Do "you" believe that Jesus is the Christ?

The best place to find the answers to your questions is right in the Bible. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truths as you read the Word of God. "The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you of everything I have said to you." (Jesus speaking) John 14:25-26 You can tell from these verses that the Holy Trinity consists of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, and yet they are as one God.

In my Bible (the International Version), 'The Christ' and 'The Messiah' are interchangable.

For example, in Acts 5:42, it says "Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ" (or Messiah).

See also Acts 9:22.

Do I believe that Jesus is the Christ? If anyone was or is the prophesized Christ, I do believe that Jesus is it. Besides, whether or not I believe seems less important than whether or not I WANT to believe. And I definitely want to believe. Jesus kicked ass.

According to Alice Bailey in the "The Rays and The Initiations":
Though the Christ is the Head of the Hierarchy, it is Sanat Kumara, the Ancient of Days, Whose ashram it truly is.
The Christ is indeed the Master of all the Masters and the Coordinator of the entire life of the great Ashram, in conjunction with the two other hierarchical Officals, the Manu and the Mahachohan.
Sanat Kumara is an authority of the so-called World Saviours successively: their life expression embodied in every case the goal of the period during which they held office.

The Christ was the first of our humanity to achieve divinity.
The Christ representing the second Ray of Love - Wisdom.
Jesus gave himself up to the Christed energy in his adult life.
The Christ is the one who brought illumination to the world.
He became the "Prince of Peace".
