Be well, dear. We'll be here when you get back, and we'll be missing you until then.

Dear Sabrina, I read that you have been diagnosed with hep B. I have hep C and have had for about 35 years. I have been doing very well, physically I mean, but lately two more liver enzymes have risen. So now I have 4 elevated enzymes. This coincides with an uprecedented explosion of waistline girth. I know you speak of the same thing. Did the Dr. say if it is related to the hepatitis? I see my liver dr on Wed. and will ask him what he thinks and get back to you.

Hi Donna Louise
I underwent a number of blood tests to determine possible causes for my weight gain last year. My doctor said I had a strain of hepatitis B. Now my understanding is that this is sexually transmitted. I have been with my husband for 4 years so this alarmed us both. However, a small bit of research shows that AD's and mood stabilizers alter or elevate liver enzymes. Can this ultimately lead to hepatitis B? What is the difference between A, B and C?
I am anxious to know what could have caused this. I have no symptoms really, except for the weight gain and gastrointestinal difficulties.
I would be interested to know what your doctor said about your weight gain.

Hi Sabrina, I am no liver expert but I think B can also be spread by blood. Do a google search to be sure. C is mainly transmitted by blood, blood transfusions, sharing needles. You can get A by eating bad food of some sort. I think people with Hep A touching the food is what does it. It is easily cured while B and C can become chronic. My dr. says my weight gain is from slowing down, menapause and to some extent the SRI's. Better search on Hepatitis, I could be wrong about some of this. But I know antidepressants do not lead to hepatitis.
