bless you, little girl

Posted by tweeds on December 29, 2006, at 15:41:03

I had my usual Christmas head crash on the couch this morning while opening presents - house cleaning to do, bird to cook, panic set in, I'm bawling all of a sudden.

My two year old got new pacifiers in her stocking. She took one and popped it in my mouth.

I hugged here dearly and laughed. Thank goodness for my family.

Christmas, being SAD, has always been a sh*tty time for me... everyone else happy, me either sedated, or off my meds and angry, sullen, and withdrawn. Couple that with getting every known childhood disease over the course of growing up - mumps, pox, measles, pneumonia, flus, and one time, even, hepatitis. It's never been a happy time, and worse yet, I'm Christian, and yet never seem to be In The Right Mood for Christmas.

But the gift of a pacifier this morning? I'll be sailing on that for weeks.

Bless you, Foo-Foo. Daddy loves you.

Such a sweet story. Can I have one too?

My kids are older, so they push the chocolate towards me. That works. I hope your day turned out well.

God Bless two year olds.
You made me smile.

Yeah, it did. Surprisingly low key, the in-laws were great, my dinner was fabulous - best turkey I've cooked in 10 years.

It was a wonderful day. And a lot of it was because you know who got me out of a rut. She's a great kid.
