Strange voices and feelings

Posted by Fred Potter on January 25, 2001, at 15:23:57

My 11 year old son says he hears shouting in his head sometimes. He says it sounds like Mum when she was younger, and that he's heard it before. Also, usually when asleep, he experiences the sensation of all-knowing smiles and a thick texture to the bed-clothes and his hands feel very close to his head. A feeling of significance grows and grows and then after 10 minutes it disappears. Also someone coming in and talking makes it fall like a house of cards.

My Mum, brother, sister and I have all suffered the same thing when younger. I have had an EEG and am negative for epilepsy and I'm not schizophrenic. Can anyone explain what's going on? Is there medication that can help the poor lad?
Thanks everyone
Fred

James here.....

Its hard to start talking about meds when there is not a condition defined. Get a consult with a child pdoc (or 2nd or 3 opinion).
