Hi. For strong melancholic depression (poor mood/drive/motivation/energy/cognition) I currently I take ritalin 5mg a day total. 2.5mg valium and tapering. Ginkgo 240mg. Gabapentin/neurotin 100mg. D3 400iu. Resveratrol 600mg. Might be trying Prozac, Sam-E, or Lexapro soon as I try to examine my options.
I was wondering if in anyone's experience or knowledge would any of what I currently take raise any concerns? Please excuse my ignorance as I do try hard to study but even with my notes my memory does fail me despite my young age. Both Res and ginkgo are anti-oxidants.
ginkgo does help w my memory a little bit.
resveratrol tends to give me more energy and also a bit of empathy. sometimes i have noticed a bit of a mood lift.
d3 only been taking for a few days.
gabapentin about 4 days to give me some temporary relief during a very hard time.
Would any of my current supplements be good/bad with any of the following?
Prozac, Sam-E, Borage Oil (omega 6), L-Tyrosine, L-Tryptophan, Omega 3 high EPA ratio, or Rhodiola?
Please do feel free to also list any positive/negative interactions w other substances too as it may help me through future options.
Also I was previously taking Licorice Root 900mg (herbal ssri) and in the short term there was definite benefit. I had more emotion, positivity, empathy, expression, enthusiasm, libido. But after about 3 weeks my skin was extremely dry and eventually I even had bleeding while using the washroom. I obviously had to stop since stopping some other substances such as B6, Omega, Tyrosine etc did not solve the issue. I don't know if it was Licorice on it's own or if it was a possible interaction building up. Shame because it was promising.
Any any good combo suggestions would be much appreciated.

In reply to Resveratrol or Ginkgo Biloba bad w other meds?, posted by alexcanada on March 14, 2013, at 1:07:43
Resveratrol made sleep more difficult for me so I had to stop it.
D3 was even worse for sleep, but others do not report this so I don't know.
Rhodiola I really liked, but lousy for sleep.....just too long acting.
Also R alpha lipoic acid while we are at it.
This is the end of the thread.
