What herbs or vitamins are known to have an adverse affect on hair? I know that, anecdotally, fish oil can be a culprit, as can St. John's Wort. And-of course-too much zinc or selenium can cause some shedding. Any others?

YES! I lost my hair on wellbutrin, scary amount of hair loss. NAC with B's especially B6, C and magnesium. My hair came back, it's about 6-8 months now since I started NAC and I hardly loose any hair at all. I stayed on wellbutrin at a lower dose for a good part of that time and still the hair loss decreased even with wellbutrin. I ran out of NAC for maybe 1 month and noticed a bit of hair loss so I went back on it. The NAC also thins mucus and when I was off it I had a flemmy throat all the time.

Thanks! How much NAC are you taking? I took it for about a year but stopped and switched to reduced glutathione. I thought it might be a good idea to take a break, thinking that maybe I was chelating minerals out of my body (nothing to support this, just paranoia). I was only taking 500mg and didn't really notice anything hair-wise, but I think I may have had some loss a few months later. I'm a middle-aged guy so it's hard to gauge what is normal loss and what is abnormal.

jarrow sustained release, 1,200-1,800mg/day. The clinical dose studied is 1,200-2,400mg. I take it with high dose B's too. everytime I take one I take the other and now I've added 1-2 g of C with it.
