I am just wondering if it builds up gradually in the blood stream like ssri's, or does it work insantly and wear off with in hours like a stimulant would. I can't find anything to clarify this

My feeling is that it works quickly enough and then wears off.
I have heard that it is wise to take a reasonable dose of VitC while you take 5htp.
