'Mood food formula'

Posted by Meri-Tuuli on August 21, 2005, at 9:24:20

Hello Folks!

Well, I came across this supplement containing the following:

500mg DL-Phenylalanine, 500mg L-Tyrosine, 250mg Tri-methylglycine, 100mg Vitamin B5, 100mg L-5 Hydroxytryptophan, 40mg Niacin (vitamin B3)(nicotinamide, nicotinic acid), 20mg Vitamin B6, 100µg Folic acid, 10µg Vitamin B12

Does anybody thinks this is a good 'mood' formula?

Plus what does Tri-methylglycine do? I know about the actions of the others

I was thinking of trying it out, but it says not to be used with ADs. I'm on 4mg daily of reboxetine (an SNRI) and a tiny amount of celexa (2mg). Would it be safe for me to use perhaps?

Plus can you get too much noradrenaline in the sense of getting the equivalent of 'seratonin syndrome'?

Warm regards
Meri

I used TMG and I was fine. It diden't do anything though in my case. Start low and go up slowly.

I would say "NE syndrome" would kind of just feel like intense energy or sort of like a hypo-manic like syndrome. I don't believe it has any fatal risks associated with it except maybe a rise in blood pressure and heart rate, similar to ephedrine...

TMG aka betaine, if you search the archives I'm sure you will find out what you need to know. I believe it has been said that taking this in combination with the B vitamins in the formula is a way to increase SAM-E on the cheap. It can also lower homocysteine, I used to take a "Homocysteine Formula" that was simular minus the DLPA etc.

I don't think there is the same kind of life threatening potential, like others have said possibly increased BP and pulse. If you're like me there is a risk of pi**ed off total jacka** syndrome from too much NE though. Please don't take my word for it though, I can sometimes parrot back what others have said but that's about it.
