I was wondering if anyone here can give me some info regarding the differences between DMG and TMG and it's effects on SAMe production. My understanding is that TMG is vastly superior in terms of it's methylating properties of homocysteine and that it influences mood to a much greater extent. I've done extensive google searches both here and on the net and haven't found much information comparing the two.
Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian,
I'm surprised you weren't able to find much info on this as I remember asking this question of Larry and he gave me a detailed response. Of course I don't remember it well enough to repeat it, but I think he said something to the effect that TMG was much better as DMG was a further metabolization and so won't produce all of the good effects you want. Maybe if you google again with Larry's name along with TMG you might find the posts I'm talking about.
Good luck!
Kara

> BrianSorry for the delayed response. DMG is the product of the reaction of TMG with homocysteine. DMG will do nothing to increase SAMe production, unless it can somehow become remethylated to TMG (and that would probably consume SAMe in the process). You need TMG. There is no substitute.
