Hi, I take SAM-e, 1600(800am+800pm) and was wondering if anybody has taken more than that amount for depression.

Are you getting any results? I took that amount for a couple 'o months, sometimes a bit more (2000mg), but after a while, I didn't notice much of anything. In fact, I never got much of an anti-depressant effect out of SAM-e, no matter what the dose. It just seemed very, very weak in its action to me. I think Richard Brown (psychiatrist who wrote a book on SAM-e) said in his book that some people take up to 3200mg per day. I don't remember. You could probably check the book out at your local library; he goes into detail about his experiments with the stuff. But in my opinion, his reports of SAM-e are a bit too glowing.
Good luck,

It did seem to help for the first week or so.no more of no less than other Anti-depressant i've tried, but definitely more potent than most "natural" substances. I have the feeling that if my depression wasn't so severe and complex, the stuff would work pretty well.
