l-theanine + prozac......Lar?

Posted by alesta on August 20, 2004, at 17:13:19

hi, lar!!

i was just wondering if you might know if it would be a good idea to combine l-theanine + prozac. l-theanine is supposed to increase dopamine and gaba, but its affect on serotonin is unknown (contradictory studies--some say it has no effect on serotonin, while others say it increases or decreases it).

i guess since the effect on serotonin is unknown, there is no way you could really tell me if it would be safe to take with prozac. i just thought i'd ask anyway. :)

thank you!
amy

It should be safe with Prozac. Always remember that the dose makes the poison. Also, the poisonous dose varies across different people. The rule of thumb is, "Start low, go slow."

Start at the low end of the suggested dose, and increase the dose slowly over time, as tolerated.

thanks, lar! :) (nm)
