Tried them all people. L-TRYPTOPHAN is the best. Tried 5htp, rhodiola rosea, wisconsin american ginseng, meds, l-tyrosine, magnesium glycinate, 5 vitamins(w/methylcobalamine and b5 phosphate) etc. Anyway this is my first couple days on it and 80% less anxiety. Nothing else did better than 20% relief. Best sleep aid ever by the way. No hangover like melatonin.

For those of you using tryptophan I found a site that sells it for $25.00, the cheapest price I've seen yet. www.healthrecovery.com/BioProducts_Order_Form.html#anchor204548

How 'bout the next day? Any lingering sluggishness? I think I'm going to try it. I also have tried it all and am so fed up with PDocs and meds. Thanks

I thought L-Tryptophan was the same as 5-htp. Don't think we can get it around here anymore.
Bummer.

I bought 1 pound of it and put it in 1Gram Now brand capsules, which equated to about 400-500mg of Tryptophan per capsule. It is 90% Tryptophan and 10% Dextrose. It is the BEST deal BY far I know of. Its like a years supply. Su-Per® TRYPTOPHANE ULTRA PURE POWDER.

I have heard people say they get slugginess. I do not. I take 400-800mg morning and night with fruit. Usually 1200mg per day total. Also, this is probably important. In the mroning I take it with Brian Lightning(brainlightning.com), which has L-Tyrosine as one of its MANY ingreidents. So maybe it would be wise to try it separate and w/ L-tyrosine? Start in small doses. Give it a week or two before giving up.

Is there any risk in buying tryptophan from a company that sells it in bulk for animals or what have you (such as the one below, i believe)? Or is it just as safe and monitored? Thanks.

Hi, you might want to read through this other trypt thread. Here's a 'sample' post, asking the same question and with the same site at issue. I think the overall conclusion here was that the veterinary "cover" is just to stay outside FDA requirements of responsibility for any seller encouraging human consumption (as stigma still hovers), but that the grade is actually fine. Must weigh that for ourselves of course; I may ask a doc to prescribe the capsules for me since it seems a benign request. Or I may just try the vet site at hand, it doesn't worry me from what I've read *so* far. Some posters who I think are pretty knowledeable got involved in this thread:http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/alter/20031023/msgs/275718.html
This is the end of the thread.
