There is only one question worth answering here (others answered elsewhere, or nobody's business (see if you can figure out which is which)).

A complex interplay between gene(s) and the environment. From an individual gene's perspective, everything outside of it is environment, including the contents of the cell within which it resides.....even the other genes with which it interacts.
I'm educated enough to know something that only the truly educated come to understand. We know very little about anything.
