I wasn't quite finished....

Posted by Larry Hoover on August 10, 2013, at 15:15:04

....but with this, I am.

I don't know if it's common knowledge or not, but you've been the subject of an experiment.

Internal versus external motivation in referral of primary care patients with depression to an internet support group: randomized controlled trial. Co-authored by our very own Dr. Bob.

Full-text: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3636270/

Reference 40 is also a full-text article, in support of PsychoBabble: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3222180/

It states that satisfaction with internet mental health support websites was mediated by active trust, as represented by affirmation of a statement such as: "I would act on the information presented on this website if needed.

Active trust, eh? Some guy named Lou comes to mind, who kind of poisons the "active trust" waters for me. But not for Bob, apparently.

No, Bob, I don't trust you, either. My perception is that you have made your mind up long ago, and that your "dialogue" with members is a farce. You have no intention of changing your mind, IMHO, and never did. You'll never convince me to change my values in order to accomodate your idea of what sustainabilty might be.

Good luck on your next experiment.

Lar

I agree, Larry. I honestly am clueless as to what Bob's doing here, aside from his blatant word games, which I suppose he finds interesting and/or amusing in that he has an annoying talent (as do some others) for putting others off with such cleverness, "winning" the argument every time. Purported mental-health support isn't well-served by such gamesmanship.

some of the ideas to help posters here....can not be always that accuarate.....but really instead of being a opinionated response, it could be research by fact....thats at least what i want to do, is to research well known fact to help the poster. That's what i've been thinking of turning babble into a database of fact stated evidence, with some help of other posters....with some personal responses to help

> your "dialogue" with members is a farce.

Please don't post anything that could lead others to feel accused or put down.

More information about posting policies and tips on alternative ways to express yourself, including a link to a nice post by Dinah on I-statements, are in the FAQ:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#civil
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#enforce

Follow-ups regarding these issues, as well as replies to the above post, should of course themselves be civil.

Thanks,

Bob

My thoughts are...
"Yeah, and?"
I'm underwhelmed.
This does not affect me.

I was kind of embarrassed for Bob. Is that what passes for research at the University of Chicago?
