Putting a personal issue to rest...

Posted by Twinleaf on February 9, 2012, at 9:03:26

The whole issue of blocks is no longer an issue. It lingers a bit as an issue to me, as I received so many extremely long ones. There is a reason for this: I never wanted to hurt or offend another poster, and in the rare instances when I did so by mistake, I apologized. However, I felt that it was demeaning and patronizing to me when Bob unilaterally decided that I had "put someone down" when the person in question did not complain, and often said they had no problem with my comments.

It became a point of honor with me not to allow Bob to dictate to me what was and was not civil; if neither I nor other posters felt that I had been uncivil, I was not willing to agree Bob was right and we were wrong. As a result, I received several increasingly long blocks, ending with one that was 8 months long - for reasons no-one could understand. That was the last long block ever given, so perhaps my standing up for more respectful treatment finally paid off.

Anyway, just saying, to get it off my chest completely. I realize it's no longer an issue for anyone else.

Glad to see blocks are gone.
However, I still cannot trust this site :(
I see no reason to start to trust the administrator/owner. There has been no understanding, no remorse.
Sadly, I cannot return as a poster here.
I miss the people I met here.
I have a new site I post on, but I keep a distance.
After what I experienced with how this site functioned, I now realize that no site is safe.
My present site has been good, good people.
But never again will I post freely, or dare to connect closely.
It hurt too much to go thru what we did with babble.
I think i am not alone.
Many have left, never to return, and the ones that remain post only circumspectly.
The damage is done. Its too late. It cannot be undone.
Too bad he never would listen to us.....
I don't think he has any idea of how much damage he did.
I don't think we were ever able to get him to understand.
And sadly, for what reason i don't know, it just didn't work for him to interact on his site, which is why he probably doesn't now. At least he has figured out that much....
Though it perplexes me, and I kinda find it weird TBH , how he wants to meet Babblers F2F....
Kinda creeps me out....
Oh well. Thats a whole other issue.
As you might notice...I still come back to peek here from time to time.
This was a special place in its day, but those days are gone.
Best wishes to everyone.

It would be wonderful if you did start posting again. We are trying to rebuild the intimacy and trust we once had, and I know posts from you would help tremendously.

Hi!:)

But sadly thats the point.
I still do not trust Bob will not allasudden do something off the wall.
Like change a rule just on his own judgment, come in and start inexplicably blocking, be here awhile and people happy to see him-then he just up and is gone without a word, pretends to 'listen' to what people are trying to tell him-then does something utterly different or skewed, or promises/says things that he does not follow through on etc etc.
I do not think he is a bad man, but I think he has struggles of his own.
This is Bobs site, he owns it, he runs it.
I just cannot post here.
I need to protect myself.
But I sure miss the people that I used to interact with here.
Really, thats mostly what I was thinking, just that I miss what we had.
But for me it can never come back.
I see no evidence that Bob has come to any real understanding of what he did.
Many tried very hard to explain, but he was unable to understand.
:(
Miss everyone and hope people are all doing mostly ok.
TC

Just posting your real feelings, as you did, is a contribution - and you are speaking for lots of others, I think
