Is it ethical for Dr. Bob to see a Babbler as a patient? Just wondering. :-)

I don't think Dr. Bob would want to see ANY babble people as patients. That would just be weird.

I think it is OK. The problem here is with dual relationships, but Dr. Bob keeps a huge distance between himself and Babblers so there is not much of a relationship (if any) with Babblers.

I'm sorry Dr. Bob, someone said I shouldn't ask. Sorry for asking. You know you should just take it as a compliment eh?

I don't want to make you uncomfortable. :-(

Sorry

-IF- a babbler was an established routine participant on this forum I believe it would be improper for a patient/doctor relationship to happen between a poster and Dr. Bob. That decision would be for Dr. Bob to make but I'm hoping he would see the informed consent and liability nightmares that could occur. I think he would.

What are some informed consent and liability nightmares?

What if the Babbler would never in a million years sue Dr. Bob for anything?

There are quite a few. Plus confidentiality concerns.

People have been known to do things they declared they would never ever do. :-)
I sincerely hope you are just wondering about this subject and are not thinking what I don't want to believe you might be entertaining.

I don't see any ethical reason why Dr. Bob couldn't see a babbler as a patient. This forum is public, and Dr. Bob has published his real name, so everything he has written is there for anyone to see and judge. So everyone on the internet is a potential babbler, and nothing here implies a relationship that goes beyond doctor and patient (at least in principle).

On the other hand, it might not be in Dr. Bob's interest to have a babbler for a patient, because anything he says during a session could wind up on the internet!
