Hi Poet,
I just noticed your reply. I would love to know what your hair color is, if it's not too much trouble.
My hair's med/dark brown and long, almost down to my waist - I have an appt. in a few weeks
to get a new look, and your color might just do it.
Your hair's so shiny, and the subtle shades of the different browns are pretty. Do you use a special
shampoo? I think you look really cute in the photo!Ava-

Hi Ava,
I see my hairdresser Thursday, so I will ask her what color it is. Shampoo wise I use Biolage for color treated hair.

Poet, you think you look good from the back? You must be absolutely hideous from the front - sheer horror.
Your ego knows no bounds. Why subject the audience to any part of you.
I feel like I'm a victim of a drive-by-shooting.

Your humor knows no bounds! If Poet has a huge ego (which is not a bad thing), then I guess we make a company of three.

Poet,
Just ignore it...some people say unfortunate things while going through a very tough time.
You look like a very young woman with pretty hair playing around with friends on a night out.
Personally, I like looking at the picture, because from the back, you look exactly like a friend
I had in my teens,...and she was a cutie with a bubbly personality, so you're in good company.Even the most beautiful women in the world get stones thrown at them - so, just let it roll off
your back, and keep walking. Now, I'm counting on you to let me know what your hairdresser said about your hair color
because my appointment at the salon is coming up soon!Ava -

I'm curious. Verne gets his hand slapped but SLS, who posted that Verne has a huge ego, gets to say that? Yeah, I got that he included himself; is that his "get out of jail" card?
"SLS" who if he doesn't think your at his level, won't post in any thread that you start. Is SLS "official" on this board? - is he Bob? Because he gets away with a lot on this board and I just wonder why? He's been on this board almost since it's inception. He claims to be one of the regular folks, but treats this board like his personal therapy workshop, unless you're not on his list of tete-a-tetes. Oh, he can take it. And he can give it back too, in fact I'm scared already.
Verne's having a bad week, but honestly, he could in part be suffering from the clique mentality that has been on this board since it's beginning. Everyone's equal on this board - only some are more equal than others. Do people write in to offer Verne some support when he needs it? Not many. Instead it's just like the outside world, where people immediately either start whispering campaigns, or else openly insult the guy (Yeah, he's insulting too - but I hope he's not "frozen out" like so many others before him). It's as if this were a mental hospital that only treated you if you were always on your best behavior.
The games that go on on these boards are shameful for place that is supposed to offer support for people with mental problems. It's so bad that people are afraid to post, because the meds-gods might descend on them. The result is the same seven or nine people talk to each other - most leave after awhile, wondering what it was about these boards that seemed so uninviting.News flash: People are in pain. They are suffering, while others tisk-tisk and condescend.
Good people like Manic, whose posts are some of the most honest on this board, were almost frozen-out by the clique mentality on this board. Is this board to help those who need it? people with mood disorders? or is it a country-club where the "in crowd" checks in with one another?
If people can't have a bad day, or a bad week, or even a bad month within these spaces, where can they have them. If they do have them, do you help, rush in with words of wisdom. "That's OK boy, we understand . . " Or is it "Let's freeze 'em out, and say some condescending things about em". Maybe we can Babblemail each other about how sick they are. SLS promotes anyone posting anything on these boards, so he should welcome this post. He works differently; he'll blast you and then pretend you don't exist.
Now we have posts like the one further down about people "who change their names." The words (dripping with sarcasm) used are "lovely folks" who come back with different names.
Sarcasm that folks hope will "pass" when they put the knife in, but is anybody fooled?
I haven't read any person on this board, including myself, who hasn't "blown it" many times on these boards. So this is the very last place where snobbery should run rampant.
Let's all look at ourselves in the mirror. Why give ourselves airs? Who are the ones who don't have mental problems on these boards?

IMO, SLS has been a good friend to folks on this board, generous with support and knowledge. I have yet to see him snub anyone, and I have seen him accept the consequence of the civility rules when conflicts have arisen. I don't think he puts on airs.

Me. And, I believe, many people here. At least not beyond the average baggage and flaws that we all have by virtue of being human beings and being imperfect. Folks here may have mood and anxiety disorders, and yes, these can make people vulnerable at times. But I consider that a different thing than "mental problems". Heck, a lot of us have had therapy to the point that we may be better balanced and have better insight than many without mood disorders. :) Just my opinion.

Hi.
Huge egos.
In the post I think you are referring to, I was definitely trying to be jocular. If you look at the post, you will see that I was naive enough to think that the previous post may have been an attempt by that person at humor, although not necessarily. Having some limited understanding that Verne is not in the best of places, I figured that *his* sense of humor was also not in the best of places. That I included a third person in our group of huge egos was also an attempt at humor, just in case I was wrong about where Verne was coming from. I would like to hear from that third person so that I could apologize to them directly should they have felt injured in any way. Anyway, I was disappointed to see so many others interpret Verne's posting so differently, but these people know him better than I do.
As far as the rest of your post is concerned, your interpretations of my behavior and the behavior of the administration towards me is quite interesting. Keep in touch.
Be well.

Hi Poet.
Rollingthunder brought up a point of issue that I had not thought of when I posted something in an attempt at humor. I included you as being a part of the joke that you should have a huge ego along with me and one other person. I hope this didn't cause you any upset, and I apologize if it did.

Dear Emme,
I have you fooled too.
Now, you see guys, this is what I've been trying to tell you for years: I really don't know that much. I just use big words.
> I have yet to see him snub anyone,
I will agree with this. However, I will sometimes avoid communication with people whom are truly venomous towards me. I can pick and choose just like anyone else with this freedom.
> and I have seen him accept the consequence of the civility rules when conflicts have arisen. I don't think he puts on airs.
The reason I generally don't get blocked is because I take seriously the learning of the paradigm developed by Dr. Bob for communication on his web site. I simply try to follow these rules of conduct. It just so happens that I do a good job of it most of the time without sacrificing my integrity.
> > Let's all look at ourselves in the mirror. No way. Doing so can only decrease the quality of my life this morning. Pizza last night.
Some of us should really educate ourselves as to what exactly is the EGO. Having an intact and strong ego is a good thing. You can begin your quest to understand the evolution of this term by reviewing the works of Sigmund Freud. I don't think "huge" is necessarily a good thing, but I am pleased when I am told that I do have a strong ego.
By the way, Emme. I think you're pretty cool, too.

I am far from having a huge ego, much the opposite I am afraid, but I am in no way upset as a sense of humor is what keeps me going.

Gee I dunno. That didn't sound sarcastic to me. It reads to me as though the poster genuinely thinks many folks here are lovely and is glad they're not gone.
