No notifications of posts, no matter the content.
I don't think anyone will notice a difference.I will try to ensure the content of my posts are inert. Should make for a snooze inducing experience.
Such are the rules, and I shall abide by them.
Thanks for reading.

Hi PC.
Do you feel more safe or less safe the way things are now compared to a time when rules of civility were not codified and enforced?
I felt choked by the rules when they first appeared. There are still times when I wish I could direct my sharp tongue to retaliate for a direct personal attack or in debate against what I consider to be a social malignancy. Pretentious, I know, but several times, I was tempted to completely unload on someone mercilessly. I considered it worth being blocked for.
I am now undecided as to how I feel about "civility" and its enforcement. Does it produce less innovation by limiting conflict? I don't know. Maybe not as much as I once thought it did.
My posts are now very short and simple compared to what I once contributed. I am not really sure why.

I hope it wasn't anything it said or didn't.
I am worried about you. I understand how you feel. I often feel like do I post or not. I sometimes type one out only to delete it.
Sorry you are feeling like you can't post here about what you really want to.
It hard when you feel like you have no where to go.
You can babblemail me anytime. if you want.

I can't really say much without feeling less safe. I got a PBC for a notification I sent, so I'm going to be engaging even less rather than more.
The civility rules work - but this site works best with the direct involvement of Dr Bob, imo. No disrespect to the deputies.
Plus, I'm going through some of my toughest times ever, and tying myself up in knots in trying to write about it. Quite the pity party. Have never had to check in daily with my therapist before - there are some genuine concerns.
And babble no longer is my safe place, such are the changes.

No, hon, nothing you've done. I'm feeling particularly wounded, triggered, traumatized, a whole bunch of bad stuff at a bad time.
I keep getting myself in trouble. I want to reach out; I want to withdraw.
Can't win this one.

Apparently not or I would not have been given a PBC.

I am so confused. You got a PBC for hitting the notification button? Is that because they decided it was not uncivilized.
This makes no sense.

I don't wish anyone to be confused about PBC's and the notification system.
I believe that the rule has always been that notifications, emails, babblemails, etc. to the deputies need to be civil and should not lead others, including deputies, to feel accused or put down. For that reason, it might be a good idea to send complaints about deputies, deputy actions, etc. directly to Dr. Bob. If they are sent through the notification system, they should of course be civil themselves.
This isn't about anyone in particular. But there seems to be some confusion about the issue, and I don't want anyone to feel worried about using the notification system.

Please don't post anything that could lead others, including deputies, to feel accused or put down.
At deputy request, Dr. Bob has put in a system where babblemails to posters from deputies in response to nofications are sent to the Administrative team. If any are considered uncivil, they can be dealt with by Dr. Bob. I've been actually requesting that we standardize the replies to reduce the chance of misunderstandings and I hope he institutes a standardized reply system soon.

That is fine and would not result in a PBC. In fact, we appreciate people using the notification system to inform us about problems they see on the board.

I apologize. I misread your post. Saying a babblemail was short of being uncivil is fine. I thought you wrote it was short of being civil.
I won't record it as PBC.

Dinah, I appreciate your apology for not reading my post correctly. I knew that the PBC was wrong but surely didn't expect a retraction.
Disclaimer...My post is not an indictment of the deputies that are here. My post is an indictment of the way this place doesn't work.
It bothers me a lot that such a harmless post could be read and so misunderstood that a deputy would feel that a PBC was in order. This says to me that people are in over their heads here and it is causing trouble for the posters and the administration.
I think that big things need to change here. Let Bob give Babble to a board..say 10 people. Give certain people one forum to monitor. That way the monitors gets familiar with the people on that forum and learn how they work with one another.
None of this running willy nilly and killing oneself while jumping into a thread that you don't understand OR it is read so fast that mistakes are made..such as my PBC.Let me make it clear that my investment here isn't enough to shed tears over a deserved PBC....nor do I mind a deserved block.
What I mind is the rather frantic attempts to watch all of us all of the time.I think that this system called "Babble" has just about run it's course in presenting a "fair and balanced" approach to us and our interactions.
I said that I wouldn't be back on Adm and when I did come back, I was misunderstood and got the PBC. (only mentioning this as a reason for my posting)
There isn't a chief and there aren't enough Indians to run this place correctly.
I am seeing more and more friends hurt and leaving. Two left this week without mentioning it on the boards. Two good steady members that have been here a long time.
If this starts a standard firestorm then perhaps after the shouting dies down, we can think and have some constructive dialogue that doesn't cause us to think we're being attacked or talked about.

I do wonder whether the size of the community at present can sustain groups of 10 to a board to monitor. Are we big enough, and is there enough interest?
I do have an outstanding email to Dr Bob about the current size of the administrative staff and whether he has any plans to expand it (that might help).
(and here I am on Admin after saying I wouldn't be back, either....)
great ideas and thanks for sharing

I pulled the number 10 out of the thin air that was making me dizzy....IF anything like that ever happened, there would have to be checks and balances set into place. PC has a lot of administrative help. I think I remember someone here saying they would not want to be known as a moderator though. It works very well at PC. Each has THEIR forum. (okay, say it, "why doesn't she go back to PC if they are so good?..we live in American, I have choices)

> I do have an outstanding email to Dr Bob about the current size of the administrative staff and whether he has any plans to expand it (that might help). The staff is so, so, so much too small here. Maybe he doesn't want any more work for himself and keeping staff small means less bother for him.

Deputies aren't perfect. Not even Dinah. They're human, they have stress in their lives, they make mistakes. Like other posters. Their mistakes may lead others to feel hurt (maybe more hurt than the mistakes of other posters). I liked how Dinah apologized.
