Posted by obsidian on April 15, 2008, at 21:22:25

it has interesting associations.....
associations- that's the point right
let's free associate to the couch

At first glance I found it inviting which would be approprate if it were a couch in his residence. But being on Babble I can't avoid the association with Bob the therapist which makes the inticing part creepy, as if he wants to be too close to his patients. As a Babble metaphor, for me it can only represent how little investment he has left in this place - keeping the people, needs and problems of his creation at arm's length. Or does it reflect my current attachment?

I think its good that he not in the pic. The last pic was nice and all, but i think babble needs to be bout babble and bob needs to back off cuz for whatever reason he screws things up somehow.
Better to NOT have bobs pic up there if you ask me.
Not that you did ask...
but whatever.

I totally got the creepy feel. The couch looks like the professional kind such as in a pdoc's office. So I saw it as his arm waiting for a client to sit next to him on the couch. The scene scares me. Feels like some poor sole is about to be preyed upon.

Of course, that is how my f'd up, damaged mind contrues situations. Predators are everywhere.

It's a delightful way to live.

Bob - how bout a cherry blossom? a frog? a fr*gg*ng puppy? dogs playing poker?? Something uplifting. Ya know - power of positive thinking, etc. Power of creepy guy aims me in the wrong direction.

I thought the arm was artistic, like those French movies that you knew were good because they were a bit boring.

Dunno about the couch though.
It reminds me of awful hotel rooms.
Though it does show a restraint one could admire in the provision of comfort.

And what's with that cushion?

Did someone visit him?

My first thought was of the pictures he took of us standing with our backs to the camera.

Ha. It is interesting. Interesting how we see just a bit of arm and the hand. I think it is meant to convey there's a sport for you - come on and get comfortable. lol. Very therapy like.

...oops - that's spot, not sport. lol (nm)

A unofficial report from forensic investigators concludes that the proximity of the couch in question to the door suggests that the room logically has a paucity of space typical of a modest therapy room. What puzzles the investigators is the purpose of the disturbing phallic pillow to which the hand appears to be pointing. Disturbing indeed.

Maybe he has been kicked out of his house and it now like the T on In Session, where he has to sleep in his office now. Are you looking for someone new now, Dr. Bob?

All I know is that he needs some interesting pillows on that couch for color or something.

I refuse to believe that people see therapists in rooms like these.

No therapist would provide such a cushion to a patient.

After all, the therapist has to sit all day and knows the score.

That doorknob is an issue too.

I would prefer that you refrain from referring to me in those terms Sig.

Your therapist sits on the couch next to you with his arm outstretched?

Mine sat across the room, just b-b-b-barely close enough to snatch the check from my hand.

mine only has a chair. Personally I like how close to the door the couch is. Makes for a quick get-away. And depending on the rest of the body that arm is attached to it might be necessary. LOL or the expression on the face attached to that body attached to that arm. And hey, where is the other hand? Oops forget I asked that.

All I can say is that that couch looks very empty to me...

Maybe there is a void at the center of things.....
